L’UFO nella foto è in realtà il maggiore palazzo dello sport di Roma.
Il PalaEur (dal nome del quartiere dove si trova) fu costruito nel biennio 1958-1960 in occasione dei Giochi olimpici estivi di Roma 1960 ed è considerato uno dei capolavori dell’architettura italiana razionalista.
E’ stato ribattezzato con il nome di PalaLottomatica dallo sponsor che ha finanziato i lavori di ammodernamento tra 1999 e il 2003.
Grazie all’architettura moderna e alle notevoli dimensioni (la cupola ha un diametro di 95 metri), la struttura è una delle arene sportive indoor più importanti d’Europa e può ospitare fino a 11.200 spettatori.
La struttura ospita manifestazioni sportive, congressi e concerti.
Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, Tina Turner, Depeche Mode, Bruce Springsteen e Prince (solo per citarne alcuni) si sono esibiti qui…

The PalaEur (from the name of the district where you find it) was built in the years 1958-1960 on the occasion of the summer Olympic Games in Rome 1960 and is considered one of the masterpieces of Italian rationalist architecture. It was renamed with the name of PalaLottomatica by the sponsor who financed the renovation between 1999 and 2003. Thanks to the modern architecture and to the considerable size (the cupola has a diameter of 95 meters), the structure is one of the most important indoor sports arenas in Europe and can accommodate up to 11.200 spectators. The facility hosts sporting events, congresses and concerts. |
